After several years of running tours to remote areas, visiting fabulous landscapes, and eye-opening experiences with numerous remote Indigenous arts centres, Richard and Liz have decided to move on.  Hence, having completed our 2011 tour season, we will not be offering further itineraries.

Thank you to all who have travelled with out there outback. It has been great fun and we hope to have provided a fresh perspective on our great country, and left you inspired to do further outback adventures.

Remote Australia remains the major inspiration for my paintings.  The outback has had a profound effect in many ways.  Arid zone landscapes of our inland are incredibly varied, and addictive. Year after year I return to paint on the spot - on small canvases which form the base of later larger scale studio works. My work has long been inspired by landscape -  experiencing fabulous natural spots is a great battery charge and escape hatch from city life.    However, this previously avowed abstractionist has done a total 360 as I believe the visual nature of the outback is in itself innately abstract and presents special challenge. 

With this love of the outback has developed bush and 4wd skills which led to the formation of out there outback Pty. Ltd., a niche tour company owned and run by myself and photographer Richard Windeyer over several years.  Together we took artists to remote off the beaten track places to paint, draw, photograph, walk, or just enjoy the landscape in an unhurried fashion. Whilst any excuse is good enough to "hit the track" Sydney remains home - particularly Lane Cove where I built my studio and house some 12 years ago.
